Apple Airpods

A project done for Apple with the great team at Laundry to help promote decorative Airpods cases in South Korea. I was brought in to help with the modelling and texturing of the cases. All in all we had over 60 different cases that were created and used in the clip.

CROCHETED CASES

The biggest challenge of this project from a modelling stand point was the creation of the various crochet cases. The cases used differing crochet knots, so after doing some initial research I created a variety of base knots out of splines. These knots were then cloned onto custom geometry and splines to achieve the desired density and spacing. After this there were a lot of manual adjustments to ensure everything fit together properly and that the shape of the cases read correctly. Finally these spline knots were converted to hairs and rendered with Redshift.
